Certification / Qualification
Certification is awarded when a practice can show that its work meets the standard Ivory holds its own work to.
Before anything is awarded, two things need to be true.
The practice must be ready. The work must hold.
Your practice advises, designs, analyses, governs or delivers work connected to business change.
Your clients are making decisions where strategy, operating reality, technology and performance affect one another.
You are not trying to keep the discipline trapped in IT language or methodology for its own sake.
Certification only works if the work can be reviewed against a standard that means something.
The Ivory Standard is not a list of decorative qualities. It describes how the work should behave when it is delivered well.
Clients should feel that the thinking has been controlled, composed, deliberate, disciplined, refined, curated, intentional, exacting and orchestrated.
Those qualities protect the client experience. They also protect the value of certification.
The work has structure. It does not sprawl, drift or depend on the personality of the person delivering it.
01The client experience feels calm, coherent and held, even when the subject matter is complex.
02Every output has a reason. Nothing is included because it is fashionable or expected.
03Simplicity is earned through method, evidence and careful judgement.
04The work removes noise until the client can see what matters.
05The parts work together. The client can feel the relationship between strategy, architecture and outcomes.
06Every practice is reviewed before assessment begins. The standard has to mean something.
